WASHINGTON - Acting U.S. Commerce Secretary Rebecca Blank today announced a $1 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to the Harrison County Regional Sewer District of New Salisbury, Ind., to help build a wastewater collection system that is critical to the retention and expansion of two local manufacturers and future business needs. The project is expected to help retain 48 jobs, create 57 new jobs, and generate more than $3 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.
"The Obama administration is committed to job growth and business development, and this grant will fund vital infrastructure needed in Harrison County," Blank said. "This investment will support the expansion of local businesses and help attract new businesses to meet the economic development needs of the region."
Local businesses currently use inadequate, privately owned onsite treatment systems that have stifled their growth and development potential. This EDA funding will support Schmidt Cabinet Co, LLC and GEG/Child Craft, two manufacturers of custom wood products, and attract new, competitive businesses and jobs to Harrison County.
