WASHINGTON — U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Matt Erskine joined U.S. Congressman John Barrow today in Dublin, Georgia, to announce a $1.3 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to the city of Dublin and County of Laurens Development Authority of Dublin, Georgia. This investment will help make improvements to the city's water and sewer infrastructure to support job growth and expansion of the city's manufacturing base.
"This $1.3 million Economic Development Administration investment in Georgia will strengthen local infrastructure to support U.S. manufacturing," said U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Matt Erskine. "Today's grant will help Dublin build critical infrastructure to serve a new metal stamping facility, helping create new, well-paying jobs and expanding the U.S. auto parts sector."
"Investing in our infrastructure is one of the best ways we can ensure the 12th District is ripe for growth and able to attract outside business," said U.S. Congressman John Barrow. "Manufacturing jobs keep our communities running, and this grant will help bring jobs to our region and open the door for other opportunities in the Dublin area."
The EDA grant will fund the construction of new water and sewer infrastructure in Dublin that will support the construction of a 130,000 square foot metal stamping manufacturing facility to be located in the I-16 industrial park. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 178 new jobs and leverage $39 million in additional private investment.
