U.S. Economic Development Administration Invests $1.9 Million to Help Build Critical Infrastructure and Create Jobs in Rochester, New Hampshire

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) today announced a $1.9 million grant to the city of Rochester, New Hampshire, to make critical water and sewer improvements to serve the Crossroads Industrial Park and Rochester Marketplace. The project is expected to create 130 jobs, according to grantee estimates.
“The Obama Administration is committed to helping communities spur business development to create high-skill, living-wage jobs and improve our nation’s economic competitiveness,” said U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Matt Erskine. “The EDA grant announced today will provide the critical infrastructure that Rochester needs to support current business needs while paving the way for future growth.”
“The most important thing we can do for our economy right now is invest in job creation and give job creators tools for long-term success,” said Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). “The EDA grant to Rochester is a win for our local economy and our workers because it will create jobs as well as infrastructure for long-term economic success.”
“I am so pleased that the EDA has chosen this worthwhile project,” said U.S. Representative Carol Shea-Porter. “This will create jobs and is an excellent investment in Rochester’s economic future.”
The project will help construct 8,000 linear feet of sewer line and 9,000 linear feet of water line to provide service to the Crossroads Industrial Park and the Rochester Marketplace. In addition to serving the Crossroads Industrial Park and Rochester Marketplace, this infrastructure will serve as a catalyst for further expansion, business development, and job creation.
