WASHINGTON — The U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) today announced a $200,000 grant to the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) of Denver, Colorado, to develop an implementation plan needed to establish an Advanced Industries Manufacturing Institute that will support business development and foster economic growth in the state.
“This important EDA investment will develop a plan that will result in the creation of an Advanced Industries Manufacturing Institute that will drive job creation across key sectors of the Colorado economy,” said U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Matt Erskine.
The EDA investment supports OEDIT efforts to inventory and assess the assets, opportunities, and resource gaps important to the growth of new industry clusters across Colorado. The state has targeted seven key industries for this effort: advanced manufacturing, aerospace, bioscience, electronics, energy, infrastructure engineering and technology. The implementation plan will ultimately help establish an Advanced Industries Manufacturing Institute to drive growth in these sectors.
