U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $1.5 Million for Water Infrastructure Improvements to Support Manufacturing in Auburn

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.5 million grant to the city of Auburn, Kentucky, to expand and renovate an existing wastewater treatment plant to accommodate current and future business needs. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 65 jobs, retain 130 jobs, and spur $120 million in private investment.
“The Trump Administration is committed to not only retaining jobs in this country, but also to creating new opportunities through infrastructure improvements,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “I look forward to seeing how Auburn’s improved water treatment plant will help spur business and job growth.”
The existing water treatment facility is more than 50 years old. The project will expand and renovate an existing wastewater treatment plant to accommodate a pet food manufacturer as well as other local businesses.
