U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $1.5 Million to Support Advanced Manufacturing Training Efforts in Troy, New York

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.5 million grant to Hudson Valley Community College of Troy, New York, to help expand their Advanced Manufacturing Technologies training facility. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 600 jobs and generate more than $3.2 million in private investment.
“The American manufacturing sector has experienced a new revival under the policies of the Trump Administration,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “Hudson Valley Community College’s expanded training facility will boost efforts to provide workers in Troy with the skills necessary to support growing manufacturing firms.”
The project will complete the interior of a 40,000 square foot, two-story addition to Lang Hall to include classroom space, multiple advanced manufacturing labs, demonstration areas, student advisement center, conference rooms, and computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing simulation workstations.
