U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $958,885 for Critical Water Infrastructure to Support Business Development in the Village of Delta, Ohio

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $958,885 grant to the Village of Delta, Ohio, to make critical water infrastructure improvements needed to boost business development and job growth in the region. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 165 jobs and generate $81.2 million in private investment.

“Thanks to the diligent efforts of local leaders, the Village of Delta will have this significant opportunity,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Affairs Dennis Alvord. “The water infrastructure improvements will help established businesses in the village grow while attracting new businesses and jobs to the region.”

This project involves the construction of a new raw water pump station to be built immediately adjacent to the existing water treatment plant. The pump station and water system will be owned, operated, and maintained by the Village of Delta. The project is expected to immediately serve two beneficiaries in the region; one will use the raw water supply for irrigation purposes to support the expansion of greenhouse operations and the other will use the water supply for dust control at a new scrap metal recycling facility.
