U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $500,000 to Make Water Infrastructure Improvements Needed to Support Business Development in Corsicana, Texas

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $500,000 grant to the City of Corsicana, Texas, to make critical water infrastructure improvements needed to support the needs of current local businesses and power future economic growth. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to spur $7 million in private investment.

“We commend the city of Corsicana for providing required infrastructure for the growth of new businesses,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Affairs Dennis Alvord. “This project will make the region more competitive and will attract further private investment for greater growth in the region.”

This project will extend a public sanitary sewer main to the Corsicana I-45 Industrial Park, providing services to existing and future businesses in the 84-acre park as well as a new sanitary sewer lift system. This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the North Central Texas Council of Governments. EDA funds the North Central Texas Council of Governments to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment, and create jobs.
