U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2 Million to Support Infrastructure Development in Mocksville, North Carolina

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2 million grant to Davie County of Mocksville, North Carolina, for infrastructure improvements, accelerating the growth of medical and manufacturing industries in the region. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 187 jobs, and spur $23 million in private investment.
“The Trump Administration has recognized the challenges American towns and cities face when endeavoring to create more opportunities for their businesses and workers,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “Due to the hard work and planning of those in Davie County, this project will modernize the local infrastructure in order to meet the needs of the community.”
“There are few things more important than ensuring North Carolinians have good-paying jobs that allow them to provide for themselves and their families,” said Governor Roy Cooper. “This infrastructure investment will help Davie County attract opportunities in growing industries and stay competitive.”
This project will support sewer infrastructure improvements, providing additional capacity for business as well as economic growth in and around Davie County. This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Piedmont Triad Regional Development Corporation. EDA funds the Piedmont Triad Regional Development Corporation to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment, and create jobs.
