10 EDA American Rescue Plan Webinars Generate Record-Setting Levels of Engagement from Communities Across the Country
On July 22, 2021, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced the implementation of a series of programs to equitably invest $3 billion that the Economic Development Administration (EDA) received under President Biden’s American Rescue Plan Act to help communities across the country build back better.
From July 29, 2021, through August 12, 2021, EDA subject matter experts hosted 10 public informational webinars that reached more than 20,000 attendees. This tremendous level of engagement from diverse communities across the country demonstrates the enthusiasm for these new programs. In addition, EDA teams from east to west are actively engaging customers, answering questions and helping facilitate the development of high-impact program applications.
These programs, collectively called Investing in America’s Communities, represent the largest investment in economic development from the Commerce Department in decades. With this $3 billion in investments, communities across the country, including those historically left behind and left out, have the opportunity to excel.
Organizations eligible for EDA American Rescue Plan funds including states, cities and counties, district organizations, Indian tribes, institutions of higher education, and non-profits are encouraged to view EDA American Rescue Plan webinar recordings and other available resources to learn more about EDA’s six, innovative programs and how to submit project proposals.
