U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2.4 Million in CARES Act Recovery Assistance to Support Tourism Recovery in Maine

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.4 million CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, Augusta, Maine, to boost the state’s tourism industry through promotion and marketing. This EDA grant, to be matched with $600,000 in local funds, is expected to retain 1,225 jobs.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2.5 Million in CARES Act Recovery Assistance to Support Business Development and Training at Stephen F. Austin State University

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.5 million CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, to support the Center for Applied Research and Rural Innovation and promote business development and workforce training efforts. This EDA grant, to be matched with $892,895 in local funds, is expected to create 90 jobs and generate $13 million in private investment.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $7.6 Million to Upgrade Critical Infrastructure at the Port of MacKenzie, Alaska

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $7.6 million grant to Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, to fund infrastructure improvements designed to increase the operating efficiency of the Port of MacKenzie. The EDA grant, to be matched with $1.9 million in local investment, is expected to create 16 jobs, retain 551 jobs, and spur $800,000 in private investment.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $4 Million in CARES Act Recovery Assistance to Support Development of a Medical Research and Manufacturing Facility in DeLand, Florida

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $4 million CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to Volusia County, Florida, to prepare a 56-acre site adjacent to Daytona Beach International Airport for the development of Project COVID, a medical research, manufacturing and multi-modal distribution facility. This EDA grant, to be matched with $1 million in local funds, is expected to create 360 jobs and generate $150 million in private investment.
