U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2 Million in American Rescue Plan Funds to Diversify and Grow Morgantown, West Virginia’s Economy

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding its first local investment as part of the Coal Communities Commitment to the Morgantown Utility Board in Morgantown, W.Va. The $2 million American Rescue Plan grant will help  create 300 jobs and generate $250 million in private investment to build a new  beverage processing and packaging facility in the Morgantown Industrial Park.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.1 million grant to Colorado Mesa University (CMU), Grand Junction, Colorado, to provide equipment and technology to support physician’s assistant, physical therapy, and occupational therapy degree programs. This EDA project, to be matched with $901,928 in local funds, is expected to create 218 jobs, retain 819 jobs, and generate $15 million in private investment.
