EDA announced 12 investments from April 25 – May 2, 2024, totaling $17,553,600 which is matched by $5,271,507 in local investments. These investments include the following:
- $15,873,600 in four Economic Adjustment Assistance-2023 Disaster Supplemental projects to help regions that are experiencing severe economic distress or other economic hardship resulting from Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, wildfires, flooding, and other natural disasters occurring in calendar years 2021 and 2022 and to help save/create 690 jobs and leverage $9.69 billion in private investment.
- $1,680,000 in eight Partnership Planning projects to support the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy process.
- $15,873,600 in four 2023 Disaster Supplemental projects, matched by $4,161,507 in local investments, as follows:
- $3,500,000 to the City of Copperas Cove, Copperas Cove/Coryell County, TX to support the city of Copperas Cove with addressing the local and regional need for high paying high-quality jobs by improving water, sewage, and road infrastructure to develop two 22-acre sites for industrial use, specifically the computer chip industry in Coryell County, Texas. The project will address the longer-term investments needed in infrastructure to allow for more robust development and the production of the needed microprocessors and computer chips in the domestic market. Once completed, the city will create an increase in employment and diversify the local economy. The grantee estimates that this investment will help create 15 jobs and leverage $130 million in private investment.
- $9,598,600 to the Anderson County, Anderson/Anderson County, SC to support Anderson County with making critical wastewater system improvements to benefit commercial and industrial areas around exits 19 and 21 on I-85 in Anderson, South Carolina. The project will assist the region with disaster mitigation efforts, which will promote community resilience and help meet the needs of local employers in the area. Once completed, the project will bolster economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen the regional economy. The grantee estimates that this investment will help create 225 jobs and leverage $60 million in private investment.
- $2,300,000 to the Ascension Parish Government, Gonzales/Ascension Parish, LA to support the Ascension Parish Government with providing geometric improvements to LA Highway 1, specifically an asymmetrical widening to provide access to the RiverPlex MegaPark in Gonzales, Louisiana. The project will help develop and expand industrial parks, transportation and distribution centers, ports, and research parks, while supporting continual development of robust regional business and industrial clusters. Once completed, the project will create new opportunities for employment, expand and diversify the region’s economic base, and promote economic resiliency throughout the region. The grantee estimates that this investment will help create 450 jobs and leverage $9.5 billion in private investment.
- $475,000 to the East Texas Baptist University, Marshall/Harrison County, TX, to support the East Texas Baptist University with continuing Phase 2 of the newly renovated Synergy Park project, which includes three components: Synergy Collective, Workforce Training, and Educational Seminars. Synergy Collective will enhance classroom learning with real-life experience and relationships with successful businesses in the community by linking student participants with local businesses that match their interests; Workforce Training for High Demand jobs will assist unemployed, underemployed, and underserved workers to train for and secure good jobs; and Educational Seminars will help start-ups and expanding businesses, as well as assist exploring entrepreneurs in building a local network and learning skills from regional experts. Once completed, the project will enhance economic resiliency and strengthen the regional economy.

The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
- $210,000 to the Coastal Regional Commission, Darien/McIntosh County, GA, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Coastal Regional Commission, which comprises the counties of Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, and Screven. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
- $210,000 to the Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments, Huntsville/Madison County, Alabama to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments, which comprises the counties of DeKalb, Jackson, Limestone, Madison, and Marshall. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
- $210,000 to the Greater Nashville Regional Council, Nashville/Davidson County, TN, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Greater Nashville Regional Council, which comprises the counties of Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson, and Wilson. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
- $210,000 to the Roosevelt-Custer Regional Council for Development, Bowman/Bowman County, ND, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Roosevelt-Custer Regional Council, which comprises the counties of Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger, Slope, and Stark. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
- $210,000 to the Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District, Norfolk/Madison County, Nebraska to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District, which comprises the counties of Antelope, Boone, Burt, Cedar, Colfax, Cuming, Dixon, Dodge, Knox, Madison, Nance, Pierce, Platte, Stanton, Thurston and Wayne. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
- $210,000 to the Flint Hills Regional Council, Inc., Ogden/Riley County, Kansas, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Flint Hills Regional Council, which comprises the counties of Chase, Geary, Lyon, Morris, Pottawatomie, Riley, and Wabaunsee. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
- $210,000 to the Bear River Association of Governments, Logan/Cache County, Utah to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served the Bear River Association of Governments, which comprises the counties of Box Elder, Cache, and Rich. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
- $210,000 to the Terra Moreno, Community and Economic Development Director, Abilene/Taylor County, Texas to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the West Central Texas Council of Governments, which comprises the counties of Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, and Throckmorton. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
