EDA announced five investments from June 8-14, 2023, totaling $1,595,000, which is matched by $946,667 in local investments. These investments include the following: (1) $1,000,000 in one Public Works project to help communities revitalize, expand, and upgrade their physical infrastructure that will help create 343 jobs, save 50 jobs, and leverage $25,500,00 in private investment; (2) $70,000 in one Local Technical Assistance project to strengthen the capacity of local or state organizations and institutions to undertake and promote effective economic development programs; and (3) $525,000 in three Partnership Planning projects to support the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy process.

  • $1,000,000 in one Public Works project, matched by $666,667 in local investment, as follows:
    • $1,000,000, matched by $666,667 in local investment, to the City of Luling, Luling/Caldwell County, Texas, to fund construction of infrastructure improvements at the city’s industrial park to support business growth and job creation in Caldwell County. The project will provide roadway, water, and broadband improvements to support business expansion in aerospace manufacturing and other industries, including meat and poultry processing.  Once completed, the improvements will help the city attract new business starts, private investment, and serve as a hub of economic activity throughout the region.  The grantee estimates that this investment will help create 343 jobs, save 50 jobs, and leverage $25,500,000 in private investment.
  • $70,000 in one Local Technical Assistance project, matched by $70,000 in local investment, as follows:
    • $70,000, matched by $70,000 in local investment, to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, San Francisco/San Francisco County, California, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, which covers the Greater Bay Area Economic Development District.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
