EDA announced 2 investments from November 7 – November 14, 2024, totaling $295,500 which is matched by $143,875 in local investments.  These investments include the following:

  • $295,500 in two Economic Adjustment Assistance-2023 Disaster Supplemental projects to help regions that are experiencing severe economic distress or other economic hardship resulting from Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, wildfires, flooding, and other natural disasters occurring in calendar years 2021 and 2022.

 

  • $295,500 in two 2023 Disaster Supplemental projects, matched by $143,875 in local investments, as follows:
    • $95,500 to the Indy Idea Hub, Independence/Polk County, OR, to support conducting a feasibility study to assess the viability of a future business Accelerator program in the area.  The study will explore the potential for connecting small farmers to an existing commercial kitchen to develop value-added products and consumer packaged goods using small batch co-packing.  The project will help the region create a more resilient community and assure continuity of businesses and residential operations to strengthen the regional economy.
    • $200,000 to the Hawaii Foodbank, Honolulu/Honolulu County, HI, to support the completion of an environmental assessment for the location of the planned Distribution and Resiliency Center in Waipahu, Hawaii.  The Center will allow Hawaii Foodbank to expand their services and provide increased support during disasters.  The project assessments and work include cultural impact analysis, archaeology, traffic impact analysis report, engineering, and drainage report.  The project will help strengthen the regional economy and support economic growth throughout the region.
