Orin Herskowitz is SVP and Executive Director of Columbia Technology Ventures (CTV), as well as Adjunct Professor for Columbia’s Intellectual Property for Entrepreneurs course. He has been a peer reviewer for innovation and entrepreneurship awards for the National Science Foundation and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities; has been a board member or on the leadership team of many technology accelerator programs; is or has been a board member for the Center for American Entrepreneurship and Incubate, a senior Fellow for the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and a former member of the National Advisory Committee on Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the Secretary of Commerce.
Each year, Columbia Technology Ventures receives roughly 400 inventions, files over 200 patent applications, executes over 100 patent licenses, and helps start 15 – 30 startups. It also supports Columbia’s 10+ lab-to-market technology accelerators in carbon reduction, rare diseases, oncology, computational biology, advanced materials, data analytics, medical devices, and other fields.
He is also leading efforts at Columbia to launch and run a centralized Industry Relations initiative, as well as supporting the innovation ecosystems surrounding Columbia’s West Harlem and Washington Heights campuses.
