The South Chattanooga/East Lake Economic Revitalization Plan, led by the city of Chattanooga, requests approximately $20 million in funding to connect residents of the persistently distressed neighborhoods of Alton Park, Clifton Hills, East Lake, and Oak Grove to good tech-related jobs. Residents in these neighborhoods are often unable to access good jobs, resulting in persistent poverty. The coalition’s proposed investment will address these challenges through expanded IT and tech-related apprenticeships, micro childcare centers, transportation services, and community case management and talent connection. The plan builds on the city’s efforts, like One Chattanooga and the Good Jobs Great Cities Academy, to channel economic growth to distressed neighborhoods.
